The designer and goldsmith student Sædis is currently in her fourth semester in the Jewelry making and repair department of the famous North Bennet Street School in Boston, Massachusetts. The school is renowned for its craftsmanship and fine detail.
Art and design has always been a important aspect of her life and has come as a second nature to her. She completed her degree in the College of Breidholt, Reykjavik, Iceland and worked for several years until she decided to study art and design in the Technical College of Hafnarfjordur in 2005-2007. During her studies she acquired a interest in creating and designing objects from metals and other materials. She attended a seminar in silver jewelry making in Reykjavik and started to design various objects and mix different materials with the silver. Among materials she mixed was the Icelandic Wool and Atlantic Leather (made from fish skin), it was during that time the Woolflower was designed.
In January 2007 she moved to Boston to study the craft of jewelry making. Sædis works with precious metals and stones and among them are Icelandic natural stones. She prides her self for working hard and has a good eye for fine details and delicate craftsmanship. Like many Icelanders Sædís is inspired by the amazing and diverse nature of Iceland. On her travels around Iceland she handpicks Icelandic stones and includes them in her jewelry. The Icelandic lava is among the stones she uses. Each piece of jewelry is handcrafted and unique in design.
It is possible to contact her through email if you would like to acquire a unique peace of jewelry from her. |
