About Saedis

The interest in creating jewellery came through my endless passion to make things with my hands. I have a vivid imagination and excellent fine skills.I have a great sence of style and I know what I like.  I am patient, easy going and hard working, which are good elements to have when you work as a self employed jeweller. I changed my career and graduated as a bench jeweller in February 2009, from North Bennet Street School in Boston, MA. I volunteered as an apprentice for Melissa Finelli and Allan Leawitt in Boston, USA, and worked for Dyrfinna Torfadottir as an apprentice  In Iceland.
I am born and raised in Reykjavik, Iceland.  Not far away from simmering volcanoes, beautiful nature and magnificent waterfalls and glaciers.  Being Icelandic plays a big part in my life.  My designs reflect the landscape, colour, texture and the unspoiled nature around me.

The Studio sign was a gift from my Master goldsmith Dyrfinna
Sædís Bauer Halldórsdóttir, designer/goldsmith
I am an entrepreneur at the Old harbour village in Reykjavik, Iceland where I opened my own studio/gallery on June 5th 2010.

The studio/gallery is located in an old fishermans hut built 1934. People thought I was crazy to renovate that old, dirty, smelly and cold hut but I looked past the grime and the hard work that needed to be done.  I just knew it would be perfect.
I received great help from my husband, son, other members of our family and friends.  I will always be thankful for that.

The history in The Old Fishermans Hut lingers.  My new friends, the hardworking fishermen visit me every day for a little chat.  I cherish their friendship and kindness towards me.

My dog Athena comes to work with me every day and keep's me company. Her name means Goddess of Wisdom, Warfare, Divine intelligence, and Crafts  My name means Goddess of the sea.

Welcome to my studio/gallery by the sea.. .
